Controlled Substances
To ensure the highest standard of care and for your safety, we do not prescribe opioid (narcotic) pain medications to new patients on their first visit.

Our first appointment is dedicated to conducting a thorough evaluation, understanding your complete medical history, and establishing a trusted patient-provider relationship. This comprehensive approach is essential for creating a safe and effective treatment plan tailored specifically to you.

Prescribing for Established Patients
For our established patients, the prescription of opioid medication is handled with great care and is reserved for specific, acute conditions where it is medically necessary.
-
Acute Pain: These medications may be considered for severe, short-term pain, such as that following a surgical procedure or a significant injury.
-
Limited Duration and Quantity: When an opioid medication is deemed necessary, it will be prescribed for the shortest possible duration and in the lowest effective dose to minimize the risks of dependence, side effects, and addiction.
-
Chronic Pain Management: Our practice is not a chronic pain management clinic. We do not manage chronic pain (pain lasting more than three months) with long-term opioid therapy. This approach aligns with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other leading medical organizations, which highlight the significant risks and limited evidence of effectiveness for long-term opioid use for most chronic pain conditions.
